This Spanish 5 Euro coin features the Tower of Hercules on both sides. The Tower of Hercules or Farum Brigantium as it was formerly known is the only fully preserved Roman lighthouse that is still in use as a navigational beacon. It was built probably in the late 1st century A.D. and marks the entrance of La Coruña harbor in north-western Spain. The structure withstood the Lisbon earthquake of 1755 and a major renovation was undertaken shortly thereafter when it’s height was increased. The light was electrified in 1926.
