New Swedish Souvenir Sheet

On 21 Mar 2012 Sweden issued this souvenir sheet. The stamp in the lower left of the sheet shows the lighthouse maintenance boat Arkö 833 in the vicinity of Häradskär Lighthouse several nautical miles off the coast of Östergötland in southeastern Sweden. The lighthouse consists of an iron tower supported by a pipe. Inside the tower is a spiral staircase leading up to the lantern. It is called a Heidenstam lighthouse after the designer, and is a type of lighthouse that can be quickly raised on hard-to-access islands. This type of lighthouse is common on the coast of Sweden. Thanks to Jaap for providing the image.
