On 25 Aug 2016 Korea Post issued a very nice set of four lighthouse stamps in the “Beautiful Lighthouses” series as well as a sheet containing four of each of these stamps. Somaemuldo (Somaemul To) Lighthouse is located in southern Korea and is a landmark along the Korea Strait. Eocheongdo (Ochongdo) Lighthouse is located on a small island west of Gunsan and is one of the major lighthouses along Korea’s west coast. Oryukdo Lighthouse marks the eastern approach to Busan, one of Korea’s major ports and is located close to the ship channel. Ulgi (Daewangam) Lighthouse is located near the port of Ulsan and was built in 1994 to replace another lighthouse by the same name which is nearby but now inactive. The sheet of 16 shown at the the bottom depicts a stylized lighthouse and Oryukdo lighthouse in the margin. Note that the sheet is cut at the left in the form of a lighthouse profile.
