New Zealand Lighthouse Stamps, 6 Mar 2019

On 6 March 2019, New Zealand Post issued a very interesting series of lighthouse stamps. The stamps feature views from the “eye of the lens” of each of six lighthouses. The stamps also include line drawings of the lighthouse from which the perspective view is taken. The Baring Head L/H stamp also shows the old and new Pencarrow lighthouses. The lighthouses shown are: Pouto, Manukau Heads, Baring Head, French Pass, Nugget Point and Puysegur Point. the Mini sheet has a sketch of Cape Egmont Lighthouse in the margin.

Submarine Postage Stamps?

In 1916, the German Realm issued two series of stamps featuring stylized lighthouses for use in sending letters from Germany to the United States via submarine. See the article in the March/April 2019 issue of The Philatelic Beacon for more information about these stamps and their use.
