Sri Lanka Lighthouse Stamps, 26 Oct 2018

On 26 Oct 2018 Sri Lanka issued a set of four very nice stamps featuring lighthouses of Sri Lanka. The stamps are available individually or as mini sheets.

Oluvil Lighthouse is located on the southeast coast of Sri Lanka near the fishing port of the same name.

Barberyn Lighthouse is also known as Beruwala L/H and is located on a small island on the southwest coast of Sri Lanka.

Point Pedro Lighthouse is located on the north end of Sri Lanka at the southeast entrance to Palk Strait between India and Sri Lanka.

Galbokka Point Lighthouse is located south of Colombo harbor on the point for which it is named.

Lighthouse Stamps from Japan, 9 Sept 2018

On 9 September 2018 Japan Post issued these five stamps along with a mini sheet. The first and last stamps show Kannonzaki L/H which is a major navigational beacon at the southwest entrance to Tokyo Bay near Yokosuka. The second stamp shows Mikomoto Shima L/H. The next one, Muroto Shima L/H and finally He Shima L/H which is located at the western end of Japan’s Inland Sea and is one of the oldest lighthouses in Japan.
