2016 France Lighthouse Stamp

On 11 July 2016 La Poste issued a stamp commemorating the fish of the Mediterranean. In the background can be seen the hills surrounding the city of Marseille. Near the waterline, the white structure is Fort Saint-Jean Lighthouse, also known as Tour du Fanal Lighthouse. This is an ancient lighthouse which has been extinguished since the mid 19th century and was originally built as a watch tower.
