Portugal Torre de Belém Stamps, 1 Jul 2015

On 1 Jul 2015 CTT (Portugal Post) issued a set of three stamps and a souvenir sheet to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Torre de Belém. The tower, located at Lisbon, was completed in the early 16th century and was used as a lighthouse from the late 1880’s until about 1945. It has been inactive for the past 70 years. The stamps are available from WOPA stamps.

Sri Lanka Lighthouse Stamp, 24 Sep 2015

On 24 September 2015, Sri Lanka issued a stamp to celebrate World Maritime Day. Just to the left of the bow of the container ship pictured on the stamp we see a red and white banded tower which is the Colombo East Breakwater Light. It is dwarfed by the much larger Colombo Pilot Station which was completed as part of the port expansion in 2013.
