New Zealand Lighthouse Stamps, 4 Sep 2013

Today, 4 Sept 2013, New Zealand Post issued a very nice set of five stamps and a miniature sheet highlighting that countries coastlines. Each of the stamps and the mini sheet shows a lighthouse as follows:

Latvia Lighthouse Stamps Old And New, 23 Jul 1925 and 23 Aug 2013

These two stamps feature Liepāja Lighthouse. The first was issued on 23 Jul 1925 and the new one on 23 Aug 2013. Liepāja, located on Latvia’s southwest coast is that countries 3rd largest city. The lighthouse is of cast iron construction and was established in 1868. A special thanks to Capt. Aleksejs Dovbna for providing the 1925 stamp.
