On 28 May 1914 the Royal Mail ship Empress of Ireland collided with the Norwegian coal carrier Storstad. The next day the Empress, having suffered severe damage to her starboard side, sank in the St. Lawrence River with heavy loss of life. A light buoy was placed at the position of her sinking and is represented on the sheet and postal cards shown below which were issued on 29 May 2014 by Canada Post.

Today, 30 Apr 2013, Malaysia issued a fine set of stamps featuring lighthouses. This is the second in the Malaysia lighthouse series. Each of the individual stamps is also available in mini sheets with lighthouses shown on the margins.
