This stamp was issued by Australia for the Cocos (Keeling) Islands on 22 May 2012. It is one of a set of four entitled “Skies of Cocos”. The West Island Jetty Light is shown.

2012 German Lighthouses

On 12 July 2012 Germany released the most recent two stamps in the German lighthouse series. The Cape Arkona Lighthouse stamp shows both the old and the new lighthouses at that site. The older shorter light was in service from 1828 until 1905 when the new lighthouse began service. Little Lighthouse Borkum was in service from 1891 until 2003 and is one of 3 lighthouses on Borkum.
